Tiruchirappalli-the rock fort city
Tiruchirapalli also called as Tiruchi or Trichy, is one of the unique cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirapalli district. It is the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state. Kaveri river splits into two, forming the island of Srirangam, which is now incorporated into the Tiruchirapalli city Municipal corporation occupying 167.23 square kilometres.
Tiruchi is having a number of very good tourist spots. The main and the most popular place of tourist attraction in Trichy is the Rock fort Temple, which is also a very important religious shrine for Hindus.Textile weaving, leather-work and gem cutting are some of the important crafts practised in Tiruchirappalli.[223] Wooden idols of Hindu gods and goddesses are sold at Poompuhar, the crafts emporium run by the Government of Tamil Nadu.[224] The Trichy Travel Federation (TTF) was formed on 5 May 2009 to promote Tiruchirappalli as a favourable tourist destination.[225] The federation organises an annual food festival called Suvai.[226] Lack of infrastructure has been a major deterrent to the city's tourism industry.
The town is having a large number of wild peacocks. Puliancholai temple is famous for its discipline and neatness. Puliancholai is situated at 70km from Trichy is a fine picnic spot which is located in the foot hills of the kolli hills range. Kallanai the stone bridge is 990feet long and 60 feet wide. There are parks in between the dams, where tourists can enjoy free air in the surroundings of water, where there is plenty of water flowing in the rivers. The upper Anaicut "Melanai"built In the 19th century is about 685m long. This is one of the unique places in Trichy...like these places..there are many temples and tourist spots which makes the Trichy city a very unique place in India..
The Rock Fort temple stands 83m tall perched atop the rock. The smooth rock was first cut by the Pallavas but it was the Nayaks of Madurai who completed both the temples under the Vijayanagara empire.[1]The temple is situated at the top of the rock. The temple is mystic in its nature with an awe-inspiring rock architecture. The Ganesh temple is much smaller with an access through steep steps carved on the rock and provides a stunning view of Trichy, Srirangam and the rivers Kaveri and Kollidam. Due to its ancient and impressive architecture created by the Pallavas, the temple is maintained by the Archaeological department of India
