                      Manali is a tourist spot which is just 40 km away from Kulu. It is situated very near to the NH to Leh. 
The breath taking landscape attracts the visitors her. Snow peaks and Beas rivers are some common famous places here for visitors. The trees of Deodar and pine provides ecological balance to the environment. Thousand of Apple from Apple orchards of Manali are sent from here to different places of the country. It is a very nice place to visit in holidays and weekands. This place is also known as the Switzerland Of India.

It is in the northern most side of the Kullu Valley. Tibetan carpets and crafts are some common things which are sold in the markets of Manali. The noodles are also very popular in Manali restaurants. Mountaineering Institute in Manali teaches trekking and mountaineering in the months of summer and skiing during winter season. Tourist huts and rest houses in Manali are also present in here. This place is perfect for the tourists. One must visit this place to experience the beauty of nature.
                          Manali is named after the Sanatan Hindu lawgiver Manu. The name Manali is regarded as the derivative of 'Manu-Alaya' which literally means 'the abode of Manu'. Legend has it that sage Manu stepped off his ark in Manali to recreate human life after a great flood had deluged the world. Manali lies in the North of Kullu Valley. The valley is often referred to as the 'Valley of the Gods'. Old Manali village has an ancient temple dedicated to sage Manu.

I was lucky to visit Kullu & Manali in December 2016 with my family. It was full of snow , ice and cold winds. I was the only visitor and spent the new year alone with a book,  and some dreams.I have tried to go further to the north, but was discouraged by icy roads and cautions of villagers on the existence of wild bears.Anyway, it is a piece of paradise on earth ( at least that time...), do not miss to go there summer or winter...really pleasant.My life wish to reside there life long.
